진 규영  (陳 圭英   CHIN, Kyu-Yung)

- Personal Profile -

He was born in Tong-yeung city, south KOREA. He holds B.A. and M.A. degrees in music composition from the Seoul National

University and an advanced degree in composition from the Karlsruhe Hoch-schule (K.A.) in Germany.

He got the Donga composition prize(1970), Korean National Composition Prize(1990) and Korean Music Prize(2005) in Korea.

And his work was selected for the competition at World music Days(Japan 2001) ACL.,(Japan,2000) Sound Celebration 2(USA,1992)

Sendai Music Festival(Japan,1992) abroad.

His music combines the theory and instrumentation of western music with the temper of Korean folk tunes.

He participated many international contemporary music festivals, including Mini Festival (Hungary,1991)

World Music Days(Germany 1995, Japan 2001) Mosaico Music Festival (Poland, 1995) Taiwan-Korea Exchange Concert (Taipei,2000)

America-Korea Exchange Concert( New-york 2000) Two Days and two nights (Ukrine 2001) Pan-music Festival

He founded Daegu International Contemporary Music Festival in 1991 and worked 7 years long as a director of the music festival.

He worked as a chairman of Korean Composers Association and ISCM Korean section.

Now, he is working as a honorary professor of Yeung-nam University, vice-chairman of Tong-yeung International Music foundation,

adviser of Daegu International Contemporary Music Festival and committee of Seoul International Music Festival.
